Living with someone with a substance misuse problem can be frightening, intimidating and lonely

You never know whether the person who’s coming through the door is going to be sober or not. We offer help and support to those affected by another person’s alcohol or drug use. Sometimes it’s difficult to remember our own needs when someone close to us is in trouble.

But it’s hard coping alone with the pressures of someone who’s misusing drugs or alcohol. If you need someone to talk to, our family, friends and carers team is here for you.

Family, Friends and Carers Service

When you meet with one of our family workers, you’ll have the chance to talk about how you are feeling in a non-judgmental, confidential environment.

Our family services include:

  • Home and community visits
  • One-to-one support from a specialist worker
  • Counselling and family therapy
  • Peer support
  • Social events and activities

Domestic violence

Alcohol and drugs can change people’s behaviour and, in some cases, can cause those we care about to become violent and aggressive.

HAGA offers help, support and intervention to those who are victims or survivors of domestic violence and affected by their own or someone else’s alcohol or drug use.

We have a dedicated worker who will offer you support and advice in a confidential, safe environment

Whether you are suffering the after-effects of a previous abusive relationship, or are within that environment right now, our services are there for you.
