What services are available in Haringey?

Which of our services you’ll use will depend on what you, and your advisor, choose for your individual plan. However, here are examples of just some of the services available in Haringey to support you through your treatment.

Expert consultancy for alcohol related activities, HAGA action on alcohol.

One-to-one support

A fundamental part of treatment here at HAGA is the individual support you’ll get through your dedicated alcohol specialist. Your key worker is someone who’ll help you decide which treatment is right for you and will be on hand throughout to talk over how things are going, discuss any concerns or fears, and give you a boost when you need it most.

Detox

If you’re alcohol dependent, then stopping drinking suddenly, without supervision, can be dangerous. HAGA’s community detox service is led by specialist nurses, who help you through detoxification. Not only will you get the medication you need to help you stop drinking safely, you’ll also get essential psychological support from one to one discussions with your nurse.

Breaking Ground

Even if you’re not alcohol dependent, you may still find it difficult to cut down your drinking without help. Breaking Ground is a 12 week alcohol stabilisation programme that helps you to either cut down or stop drinking. You’ll attend 6-8 hours of support activities per week; choosing a mix of group work, counselling, one-to-one and therapeutic sessions. Many people find the peer support and encouragement through group work particularly helpful.

Counselling

Whether you’re finding it hard to cut back or need support to give up alcohol completely, we’re here to help you succeed. Our one to one counselling programme gives you just the right level of support to bring your drinking to where you want it to be. You’ll get six to twelve individual counselling sessions, depending on what you need to get you through.

Online appointments

HAGA now offers people support to reduce their drinking online through Skype appointments. Our alcohol specialist workers will book an appointment with you at a day and time that suits you. You’ll get up to five one-to-one online appointments. Appointments are available during the day, in the evening and at the weekend. You can book an appointment online through DontBottleItUp or by attending one of our service drop-in times.

Polish Speaking Service

Haga – Polski serwis oferuje roznorodne grupy wsparcia, indywidualne sesje, oraz szereg innych zajec osobom mowiacym po polsku, ktore maja problem z alkoholem.

Domestic Violence

Alcohol can change people’s behaviour and, in some cases, can cause those we care about to become violent and aggressive. HAGA offers help, support and intervention to those who are victims or survivors of domestic violence and affected by their own or someone else’s alcohol or drug use.
